What does Profix+BIND contain?

Profix+BIND contains a selection of balanced ingredients to provide your horse with the correct nutrients to effectively stabilise the digestive system. Containing prectizone, saccharomyces cerevisiae, three B vitamins, vitamins C and E, Fenugreek, and the amino acid threonine.

Pectizone is a scientifically formulated blend of pectin, Lecithin and Fructo-Oligosaccharides. To learn more in-depth about Pectizone, head over to What is Hestevard Pectizone? (Make hyperlink- https://www.hestevard.com/knowledgebase/post/what-is-hestevard-pectizone) Page.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae assists in improving digestive health, as part of the saccharomyces boulardii family, a naturally produced yeast, which helps support the functionality of the gut, increasing the digestibility of built-up fibre in the stomach.  Horses’ that may not have the best quality or quantity of hay in their diet are those who benefit more from using Profix+BIND.

Using Pectin combined with Kaolin as a binding formula that is used to treat moderate diarrhoea to severe diarrhoea. Pectin is a compound starch derivative that’s origin is from plants.

B vitamins are great for bodies in creating foods into energy. They help the body’s metabolism by breaking down fats and proteins and producing these into energy to burn.

B1 vitamin is a necessity in the growth and development of body cell functions. This vitamin assists the horse’s body in creating energy from the nutrients.

B-12 vitamins are the key vitamins to building and maintaining a healthy amount of red blood cells as well as the function of nerves in the body. The average horse is 45% muscle, which means keeping a well-sustained dose of B-12 in the system is important to build and repair these cells.

Vitamin C is an important nutrient as it preserves internal health and protects cells. Including the care of blood vessels, Vitamin C also takes care of the cells that keep skin healthy, and bones strong and functional, and maintains cartilage between the joints.

Vitamin E, like vitamin C, strengthens and maintains nutritious skin and eyesight, in addition to defending the body against diseases and infections through the immune system

Amino acid threonine operates as a substrate for a protein blend, that performs as the protagonist host for the metabolism.

The word Fenugreek is based on the Latin name ‘Greek hay’. and was discovered in Central Asia some 8000 years ago. It was originally used as an aid for symptoms of diabetes, helping to reduce blood glucose in humans and was discovered to aid palatability and have a wealth of herbal benefits for horses too.

When can Profix +BIND help you're horse?

If it is believed that your horse(s) may be suffering from inconsistent stool movement, the symptoms to look out for include:

  • Is the horse consuming more water than normal and more frequently (showing consistent signs of dehydration)?
  • Is the stomach swollen and tender?
  • Has the horse experienced a dramatic weight loss in a short period of time?
  • Does the coat/ skin feel rough and in poor condition?
  • Is there a loss of appetite or is your horse suddenly being more selective when eating or not eating all feed?

In each case, of course we advise your first port of call is to contact your equine vet, and seek their advice as they know your horse well and of course, can visit you and your horse. Of course there are some commonly used tips and tricks that every horse owner should know - following these will mean you should at least be able to discount a few frequent causes of digestive tract issues that may result in diarrhoea:

  • Use quality forage
  • Slowly adapting diets rather than making immediate changes
  • support your horse with supplements that aid in a healthy digestive system including prebiotics and probiotics
